Neeraj, Syed catch the eye

HYDERABAD: A century by Neeraj Bist (194, 30 x 4) for Mega City and good bowling by off-spinner Syed Ayub Hussaini (five for 15) for Central Excise were the highlights of the A-Division (two-day) league cricket championship matches here.

The scores:

A-Division (two-day) league: Deccan Chronicle 341 for eight drew with Sayi Sathya CC 137 (Parth five for 29) and 102 for two (Dinesh Madan 43, Nawaz 51 not out).

Brothers XI 282 for eight decl drew with Mega City 371 for nine (Neeraj Bist 194, Sharath Raj 40, R.S. Anand 48)

Central Excise 183 and 63 for three (Md. Akbar Khan 42 not out) drew with Crown 110 (Akthar Khan 51, Syed Abyub Hussaini five for 15, Md. Saif-ul-Hassan four for 64).

Agarwal Sr CC 110 (Baswaraj 40) lost to Hyderabad Blues 111 for four (Tarun 41).

CCOB 203 (Habeeb Ahmed 60, M. Rohit five for 51) bt Visakha 45 (M.A. Shakeel six for 10).

VST 226 (Mirza Maqbool Baig 110, Venu four for 49) bts P & T Colony 151 (Shashi 51, Syed Naser Ali seven for 22).

A-Institution league:

AP Civil Services 310 for seven (P. Naveen Kumar 43, Subrahmanyam 51, Bhanukiran 76, Venkat 56) bt Hyd Industries 164.

Polo venue inspection

Col. J.S. Virk, VSM and honorary secretary of the Indian Polo Association, inspected the Bison Polo Ground which will host the polo event in the fourth Military World Games to be held here from October 14 to 21.

He expressed satisfaction at the preparations that are on for the Games and the ground condition. “We hope that after the Games, this famous venue will regain it’s glory across the country,” he said.

SAI selections

Sports Authority of India (STC, Kurnool) will organise selections for admission for boys and girls in football and taekwondo at its Centre on July 10 at Outdoor Stadium in Kurnool.

Matches put off

Hyderabad Cricket Association has informed that all the league matches scheduled to be played at Parade Grounds from July 7 to 10 have been postponed due to non-availability of the ground and fresh dates will be announced later.
