dated July 6, 1957 :Quake rocks Iran

At least 1,000 people are believed killed, and thousands rendered homeless in the earthquake that hit Larjan, north east of Teheran, early this week. Mr. Hossein Atibi, Director of the Persian Red Cross, said in Teheran on July 3 that the high casualty rate was caused by the earthquake occurring at night when everyone was in bed.
