PANAJI: The Goa Government is all set to revive the proposal for building a parallel bridge across the Zuari river connecting north Goa and south Goa. The proposal was orally raised at the first Cabinet meeting of the new Government early this week and all the Ministers gave “in principle” support for it, Chief Secretary J.P. Singh said on Thursday. The project, which was initially mooted about a year ago by the State Public Works Department, was estimated to cost around Rs. 70 crore. However, some issues related with alignment of the proposed bridge had forced the Government then to put it on the backburner. After the present bridge developed some serious problems and had to be banned for heavy traffic over a year ago, the State’s tourism industry among others raised a hue and cry.
