Big-sized laddus at 21 more temples

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: Big-sized laddus are now on offer at 21 famous temples in the State as mahaprasadam. These big-sized laddus have been introduced in addition to the ordinary ‘prasadasm’ made available to the devotees in the form of small laddu, pulihora and vada which are sold at Rs 5 each.

The jumbo laddus are being made available to people for a price against the special services of Abhishekam and Kalyanam to the presiding deity. The one offered after Abhishekam, weighing 400 gm, is priced at Rs 50 and that of Kalyanam (800 gm) Rs 100.

Endowments Commissioner P. Sundar Kumar told The Hindu that these laddus will be offered to devotees in a special container.

Mr Kumar said steps were on to ensure proper “darshan and prasadam” at 34,000 small temples in the State using the recently introduced “Dhoopa Deepa Naivedyam” scheme.
