“The Government awakes only when there is acrimony in Delhi”
NEW DELHI: Delhi BJP president Harsh Vardhan has accused the Delhi Government of failing to frame a policy to control the buses in the Capital over the past nine years. Stating that there was nothing new in the announcement that new guidelines would be framed, he said that to discipline the drivers it was essential that the Government itself get cases of culpable homicide registered against the drivers involved in fatal accidents under Section 304 Sub-Section (2) of the Indian Panel Code. Dr. Vardhan criticised the Government for not framing any policy to control the buses despite it having been in power for nearly nine years now. He charged that “the Government awakes only when there is acrimony in Delhi over continuous accidents by the Blueline buses”. The BJP leader said all along the Congress Government had made hollow statements to divert public attention. Transport
“Former Transport Minister Ajay Maken had said that a transport policy will be framed for Delhi. Now Transport Minister Haroon Yusuf has again reiterated that a new policy would be announced for the Blueline buses,” he quipped. Dr. Vardhan said the need of the hour was to frame a policy with a strong will power so that accidents were reduced. “The High Court is fed up with issuing orders again and again, but the Government is not listening,” he lamented.
