Nagaland miscreants attack villages in Assam: three killed

Guwahati: Three persons were killed on Thursday when armed miscreants from Nagaland’s Mokokchung district attacked villages in bordering Sivasagar district of upper Assam and a pressure bomb planted by them went off. The miscreants also destroyed a part of a small tea garden.

Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) D.K. Pathak told The Hindu that the miscreants attacked Sonapur village under the Geleki police station of Sivasagar district about five km inside Assam and killed Sarbat Ali aro und 2 a.m. They torched two houses and two cowsheds in nearby Dhekiajuri village. In another incident at Bohola village under the same police station they shot dead Monbahadur Chetri. Around 9:30 a.m. the bomb suspected to have been planted by them went off at Soraisojia village killing Kamal Bahadur Chetri.
