It’s not third front: Yechury
Special Correspondent
HYDERABAD: Communist Party of India (Marxist) Polit Bureau member Sitaram Yechury on Thursday hinted at changes in political equations at the national level in the future.
Though the strength of non-Congress, non-BJP secular forces was increasing, the CPI(M) did not consider the United National Progressive Alliance the third front. It was just a grouping of political parties that joined hands after losing Assembly elections, he said at a press conference here.
Mr. Yechury said there was time to decide on the candidate for the Vice-Presidential poll. The UPA alliance partners and Left parties would hold discussions after the Presidential election.
Expressing concern over the campaign launched by the BJP against Pratibha Patil, he said the BJP was stooping to a new low in making “unsubstantiated” and “baseless” allegations against her.
