Sensex hits new peak
MUMBAI: The Bombay Stock Exchange witnessed a volatile movement on Thursday as its benchmark Sensex snapped a five-day gaining streak with a marginal fall, but only after hitting a new peak of 14,963.26 and missing the 15,000-mark by a whisker.
The BSE 30-share index settled at 14861.89, down 18.35 points against Wednesday’s close of 14880.24. It touched an all-time intra-day high of 14963.26, 36.74 points away from the 15,000 milestone. Profit taking was seen on the bourses after the Sensex rose to its record high and the index lost nearly 150 points at one point of time. But fresh buying support at lower levels helped it recover most of the intra-day losses.— PTI
