GHMC ‘green walk’

Staff Reporter

Hyderabad: The GHMC has decided to take up a massive afforestation programme during this monsoon to make Greater Hyderabad a ‘great green city’. A campaign will be launched from July 7 to August 6 to create awareness about the importance of having trees to a tune of 33 per cent of the total area. This is essential for maintaining ecological balance and reducing pollution.

A ‘green walk’ will be taken out from the GHMC head office at Tank Bund to its transport vehicle yard at Khairtabad circle on Friday morning . The event is organised with active participation of citizens, resident welfare associations, National Green Corps. To mark the occasion saplings will be planted at Khairatabad circle.
