No other state supports NCC like Andhra Pradesh, says official


AP missed Republic day banner in 2007

Only 13 lakh colleges get to enrol in NCC


SANGAREDDY: The deputy director general of Andhra Pradesh National Cadet Corps, Air Commodore A.C. Bharali has called upon the cadets to thrive hard to reclaim the prestigious Prime minister ’s banner in the 2008 Republic day parade.

He was addressing the cadets of the 33 AP battalion’s second camp at the DVRCET campus in Kashipur today. Bharali has recently taken charge as the DDG of the state NCC.

He said that AP has a special place in the Republic day parade but missed the banner with a difference of few points during the 2007 parade.

Good grade

The new DDG then explained the cadets that a good grade in NCC would help them achieve their academic goals too.

He said that at present 0.25 per cent of medical seats, 1 percent of engineering seats and 1 per cent in professional course like MBA have been reserved for the NCC certificate holders on all India basis.

However he also reminded them to ask for the perks that they were supposed to receive from the directorate.

He said that the cadets are eligible for Rs. 6 for every period they attend and Rs. 120 as washing allowance per year.

He informed that the washing allowance could also be paid in kind.

The DDG also advised them to take full advantage of the training as only 13 lakh college in the whole country get the chance to enrol in NCC every year.

Commanding officer of 33 AP battalion Colonel R.K.Baruah, Commanding officer of 12 AP battalion Colonel Raghunath and Nizamabd group administrative officer Colonel Ruperi were also present. In all 750 cadets from Medak, Nizambad, Adilabad, Karimnagar, parts of Hyderabad and Rangareddy are attending the 12-day camp.
