BHUBANESWAR: The police outpost that was set up near the 12th century Jagannath temple at Puri would be converted into a full-fledged police station, said Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. Replying to the debate on the budgetary demand relating to the Home Department in the Assembly on Wednesday evening, Mr. Patnaik said the police station would help manage law and order in the holy town effectively. The Puri beach police station was overburdened as it had to keep track of a floating population, mainly tourists, along the beach. Moreover, Mr. Patnaik announced that five marine police stations would be established along the seafront to strengthen coastal security.
