PREVENTION: Mayor M. Subramanian inspects the spraying of insecticide to control breeding of flies in Nadukuppam off Lloyds Road on Thursday.
Chennai: The Chennai Corporation has bought 100 insecticide power-sprayers to intensify its drive against houseflies. Ten power-sprayers would be given to each Corporation zone to use in areas with very high fly population. Mayor M. Subramanian and Chennai Corporation Commissioner Rajesh Lakhoni visited Nadukuppam, a colony off Lloyds Road in Royapettah, to inspect the anti-fly drive on Thursday. Apart from the new power-sprayers, Corporation workers have also been equipped with ordinary sprayers. Visit to swimming pool
The Mayor also visited the Chennai Corporation swimming pool on the Marina, following the recent incident in which an eight-year-old boy was drowned. The Corporation has ordered an inquiry into the incident. The District Revenue Officer, Land and Estates, will conduct the inquiry.
