Power-sprayers for anti-fly drive

PREVENTION: Mayor M. Subramanian inspects the spraying of insecticide to control breeding of flies in Nadukuppam off Lloyds Road on Thursday.

Chennai: The Chennai Corporation has bought 100 insecticide power-sprayers to intensify its drive against houseflies.

Ten power-sprayers would be given to each Corporation zone to use in areas with very high fly population.

Mayor M. Subramanian and Chennai Corporation Commissioner Rajesh Lakhoni visited Nadukuppam, a colony off Lloyds Road in Royapettah, to inspect the anti-fly drive on Thursday.

Apart from the new power-sprayers, Corporation workers have also been equipped with ordinary sprayers.

The Mayor also visited the Chennai Corporation swimming pool on the Marina, following the recent incident in which an eight-year-old boy was drowned.

The Corporation has ordered an inquiry into the incident.

The District Revenue Officer, Land and Estates, will conduct the inquiry.
