PMK MLAs allege irregularities in cooperative polls
Special Correspondent
SALEM: Three Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) MLAs, in a letter to Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi, have alleged widespread irregularities in the on-going cooperative polls here. They accused the local DMK leadership of violation of the principles of democracy in the election to the posts of directors of various Co-operative Banks, being held in four phases here. The MLAs, A. Tamilarasu (Omalur), V. Kaveri (Edapadi) and N. Kannan (Taramangalam), insisted that the entire election exercise be declared null and void. Addressing the media on Thursday, they claimed the DMK had bagged the posts in almost all the Primary Agricultural Co-operative Banks, Weavers Co-operative Banks and Milk Producers Co-operative Union Banks in Omalur, Edapadi and in a few unions in Taramangalam blocks in the just-concluded first two phases of polls in the district.
