Administration to take urgent steps to solve drinking water problem

NAMAKKAL: District administration will initiate immediate steps to address grievances regarding drinking water supply, District Revenue Officer G. Govindaraj has said.
Participating at the mass contact programme held at Agram village in Tiruchengode taluk on Thursday, he received 750 petitions from the residents of Agaram, Konnaiyaru, Periya Manali, Chinna Manali, Kokkalai, Jadarpalayam and Vaiyappamalai villages.
A majority of the petitions were related to drinking water supply, roads and old age pension.

Mr. Govindaraj said thar the petitions would be registered online and forwarded to the officials of the department concerned immediately.
The departments would inform the petitioners about the actions taken to redress their grievances within a month.
He further said that the district administration was spending Rs. 7.25 crore for the old age pension scheme a year in Tiruchengode taluk.
More than 15,000 beneficiaries were being given a sum of Rs. 400 a month each as assistance under the scheme in the taluk.
While listing out various schemes executed in the district, he said that the administration would provide free colour television sets to all eligible persons.
More than 47,000 free television sets were distributed in the district so far. Free house sites were given to 2,560 persons.
A total of 1,441 beneficiaries were given lands under the two-acre free land scheme, he said.
Later, he distributed welfare assistance worth Rs. 2.18 lakh to 116 beneficiaries. Senior officials were present during the programme.
