DAVANGERE: The students, principal, lecturers and professors of the UBDT Engineering College here, where Kafeel Ahmed had studied his engineering, are shocked by the revelation by investigators in the United Kingdom that Kafeel Ahmed is involved in the abortive car bomb strikes in London. Suresh Chandra Mohan, principal, told presspersons on Friday that it was highly condemnable that Kafeel was involved in such heinous crime. He said that Kafeel was a brilliant student and had secured fifth rank in his engineering. “When he was here he was sober and normal person. But he might have got misguided after going abroad,” the principal said. Most of the lecturers and professors in the college disowned that they had taught Kafeel. Many of them said that they were on deputation to some other institution when he was studying. Kafeel used to take part in extra curricular activities such as debate and is said to be a brilliant student. Some students said that the report that Kafeel had involved in the incident had bothered their parents very much and that they had kept warning them to make friendship only with good students. A few students said that their parents asked them to get change of institution and come back to Bangalore. Senior police officers visited the college and were seen collecting information from the principal and others. The police also visited the Muslim hostel where Kafeel is believed to have stayed when he was studying here. Muslim hostel authorities have denied that Kafeel had stayed there and even showed the register to back their claim. Police enquired with some other people who accommodate students as paying guests.
