DAVANGERE: Several students under the aegis of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishath took out a procession here and held a demonstration in front of the KSRTC bus stand protesting against the increase in bus fare and introduction of deadline system for diploma students. The students said that bus fare had been increased thrice in the last few years and students from middle class and lower middle class families were put to lot of hardship. Students recalled the statement of the Transport Minister that the KSRTC had earned profit this year and they questioned why the Minister had increased the bus fare when the KSRTC had been making profits. It was unfair to increase bus fare in the garb of improving transport facilities, they said. The students said that deadline system had been introduced to diploma students and they described it as an unscientific. They insisted that carry over system be continued.
