G.O. 610: Congress MPs to file writ

Special Correspondent

No need to take the party’s permission, say MPs

Some forces in the party misleading Government

HYDERABAD: Ch. Harirama Jogaiah and G. V. Harsh Kumar, both Congress MPs, have said they would jointly file a writ in the High Court on Monday against implementation of GO No 610 with effect from 1975.

Speaking to reporters after meeting Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhar Reddy at the Secretariat here on Friday, they said that they, however, were not against the GO per se. “Many people belonging to different zones in the State have been working in Hyderabad as Government employees for over 30 years now, and in the process, they have become locals here”, they contended.

As such, the GO should be implemented, taking 2007 as the cut-off year. If the GO was to cover these employees, they should be retained in Hyderabad by creating supernumerary posts here itself. Any new employee joining the service during and after 2007, could be repatriated to their native zones, he said.

The MPs said that there was no need for them to take the party’s permission to file the writ as they were only trying to protect its image.

They said “some forces within the party” were misleading the Government on the GO.
