Plea to merge public insurance companies

HYDERABAD:The Hyderabad Regional General Insurance Employees’ Association on Friday represented to CPI(M) Polit Bureau member Sitaram Yechury, MP, seeking amalgamation of the four public sector insurance companies—National, New India, Oriental and United. This, it said, would enable the Government to mobilise resources for undertaking welfare schemes and pave the way for opening of branches for the benefit of rural people. –Special Correspondent
