Lucknow: Introduction of sex education in the syllabus of high school and intermediate classes by the Uttar Pradesh Board of Secondary Education rocked the proceedings of the Assembly on Friday with Opposition members demanding deletion of objectionable contents from the textbooks. Raising the matter during Zero hour through an adjournment notice, Rashtriya Lok Dal Leader Munna Singh Chauhan said that the textbooks issued by the UP Board contained objectionable content related to sex which children should not be taught in the classrooms. The material provided to trainers also had sex related contents with illustrations due to which teachers and guardians were up in arms and even principals’ association had raised its objection regarding the material. Replying to the notice, Leader of the House Swami Prasad Maurya said that taking note of the issue raised by the opposition members he was directing the director secondary education to review contents of the textbooks.
