Manmohan’s intervention sought

Special Correspondent

CHENNAI: Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi on Friday wanted the Centre and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to intervene to get water released from Karnataka.

Reacting to reports that water release from the Krishna Raj Sagar was ordered stopped by Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa, he hoped that the news was not true. If it was true, then it would mean that he was digging the grave for the principle of coalition politics. Even now Tamil Nadu has been unable to open the sluice gates at Mettur, he said in a statement.

Mr. Karunanidhi wrote to Mr. Manmohan Singh on the reported act of ordering stopping of the water release.
