Coimbatore: The second round of the Gulf Dirt Track National Championship (GDTNC) for two wheelers will be held at a venue next to the Jenney Club here on July 14 and 15. Sponsored by Gulf Oil Corporation Ltd, and organised by Sportscraft, Mumbai, in association with the Coimbatore Auto Sports Club, the Coimbatore round is set to attract more than 150 riders from across the country. With more classes and increased prize-money this season, the challenge is bound to be intense. Pramod Joshua of Team TVS Racing and Deepak John emerged the pick of the riders in the Indian Expert Class with 37 and 28 points respectively at the end of the first leg in Bhopal. The championship, organised under the aegis of the Federation of Motorsports Clubs of India, is also expected to witness a tough competition in the private class. The prize-money at stake for the overall champions is 2.5 lakh, and the winners of each zonal round will vie for a prize-pool of Rs. 85,000. The scrutiny and the qualifying session (if required) will be held on July 14 followed by the main race the next day.
