Leaders condemn alleged attack

Special Correspondent

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president Ramesh Chennithala and Leader of the Opposition Oommen Chandy have condemned the alleged burning down of Perambra block Congress office in Kozhikode district.

In separate statements, the two leaders demanded to bring the accused to book. Mr. Chennithala said the CPI (M) activists had been unleashing violence in Perambra for the past several days. Earlier, a bomb exploded at the Perambra police station. Following this, the local office of Mathrubhumi daily was set ablaze. Had the police taken strong action when these incidents occurred, untoward incidents could have been avoided. He wanted the Government to give direction to the police to take action to bring the culprits to book.

Mr. Chandy said that DYFI activist had attacked UDF workers who had protested against the burning down of the block Congress office.
