Engaging: An exhibition of paintings
NEW DELHI: Facilitating an unhindered interaction between an artist’s work and the viewer serves a dual constructive purpose. Not only does such an interaction enable the connoisseur to comprehend how the style of an artist has evolved, but it also furnishes the artist with the feedback of his target audience. Studio Seven is bringing together seven artists under its umbrella for an exhibition of paintings and sculptures. The exhibition that opens on Saturday will be on view up to July 30. The exhibition is an attempt to bridge the gap between the artist and the final consumer. The event will bring together artists with widely varying styles and themes. The viewer will be given an opportunity to gauge the evolution of the style and influences of artists who differ widely in their themes and technique. The participant artists span various styles: from the underlying theme of meditation in paintings of Amit Dutta to the depiction of historical figures in the sculptures of Asurvedh, to the sense of female emancipation pervading the works of painter Poonam Chandrika Tyagi. Other artists whose works will be showcased are the multi-faceted Suresh Kumar, who is as much at home dabbling in paints as he is with the chisel and mallet, water colour exponent Umesh Prasad, the mercurial sculptor Perdeep. K. Chauhan, and Vijaya Ved who brings with her a series of paintings on the Buddha.
