BANGALORE: Pradeep Houdino from Kerala, known for his ability to escape from chains on the railway track a la Houdini, and Zenia Bhumgara from Mumbai who usually elicits hoots of delight for producing two pigeons out of a small piece of silk cloth, will be among the seven magicians performing here on Saturday. The next day they will hit the streets and pathways of Cubbon Park and Lalbagh to entertain people and perform street magic. The organiser and magician Raj M. of the newly formed Institute of Magic and Allied Arts sees a lot of scope in the day because of its unique mm:dd:yy format – 07.07.07. There is more to it. It is the seventh day of the week; it is a Sapthami – the seventh day of the Hindu fortnight (Paksha); and it is a once-in-a-thousand-year occurrence. He has chosen to have seven magicians perform in the city to celebrate this memorable day. The others are Raj Kumar from New Delhi, Mhelly Bhumgara from Mumbai, Rajat from Kolkata, Yona from Tamil Nadu and H.G. Ley from Shimla. He promises a non-stop three hour fun-filled magic show at St. John’s Auditorium, 100 Ft. Road, Koramangala. Mr. Rajat, according Mr. Raj, is a superb comedian. “You will die laughing as you watch him,” he says. Mr. Ley’s instructions on positive thinking could ,however, bring you back to life, and, others will enthral you with … “I don’t want to say it, you come and see,” Mr. Raj said at a press conference on Thursday.
