HB0 celebrates “Harry Potter Marathon”

The icon: Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban

NEW DELHI: He may be a boy with innocent looks wearing his ever-so-prominent round spectacles, but Harry Potter is destined for far greater things. Regardless of being locked up in a small chamber beneath the stairs, bullied by his fatter cousin or treated as non-existent by his uncle, Harry Potter always has ever-reliable friends to bank upon.

HBO now celebrates “Harry Potter Marathon” to reach out to children who enjoy watching movies revolving around this popular iconic character. This Sunday three Harry Potter movies “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone”, “Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets” and “Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban” will be screened from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

There will also be a sneak peek into the making of the latest Harry Potter adventure “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix” the same day. The fantasy ride continues as the channel brings “Harry Potter Extravaganza”, repeating a blockbuster every Friday in July.

Starring Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson, this action-packed series will take viewers into a world of adventure, excitement and lots of magic.

The first of the series, “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone” will go on air on July 13. The movie revolves around Harry Potter who on his eleventh birthday receives a letter from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry to become a wizard.

Soon misadventure follows with a curious threesome, Harry Potter, Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley, and a bruising game of “Quidditch”.

HBO showcases “Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets” on July 20. In the film, a house-elf Dobby warns Harry not to return to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry for his life will be in great danger. However, Harry chooses to disregard Dobby’s warning by returning to Hogwarts. Harry’s first-year heroism spreads throughout Hogwarts and he realises that all eyes are on him to face the sinister new terror that is gripping the school. Harry Potter returns for his third year at Hogwarts, and it’s no less magical or adventure-filled than before.

In “Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban”, airing on July 27, Harry comes to know that the vicious killer Sirius Black has escaped from the wizards’ prison at Azkaban. The rumour spreads that he is making his way to Hogwarts and that there is nothing else on his mind but to kill Harry. Harry summons all the magic he can muster to protect himself and find out what it is about the past that spurs Sirius on his deadly mission.
