Muslim quota: BJP for stalling ordinance

HYDERABAD: The Bharatiya Janata Party on Friday urged Governor Rameshwar Thakur not to consider the recommendation of the Cabinet to bring out an ordinance providing four per cent reservation to Muslims.

A delegation of BJP leaders led by State party president Bandaru Dattatreya called on the Governor at the Raj Bhavan and submitted a memorandum to this effect.

It said that in spite of the stiff resistance from BC communities, the Cabinet decided to bring out an ordinance.

The previous ordinances on the same issue were rejected by the apex court.

It alleged that the Cabinet decision was politically-motivated.
