MCI had withheld recognition to three medical colleges
Jayalalithaa
CHENNAI: All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam general secretary Jayalalithaa on Friday said the party activists would stage demonstrations at three places on July 9. The demonstrations will highlight the issue relating to the Medical Council of India’s decision to withhold recognition to three Government medical colleges in Kanyakumari, Theni and Vellore districts.
In a statement here, Ms. Jayalalithaa said the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam Government’s “negligence” and “administrative bungling” had resulted in the reduction of 300 medical seats available in the Tamil Nadu Government pool.
Secretary of the election wing of the AIADMK O. Panneerselvam would lead the proposed protest demonstration at Theni.
The protest programmes at Kanyakumari and Vellore would be led by secretary of the Jayalalithaa Peravai N. Thalavaisundaram and secretary of the students’ wing R.P. Udhayakumar.
