‘Regulars can adapt fast’

Hove: India’s fielding coach Robin Singh has said ‘Test regulars’ Anil Kumble, V.V.S. Laxman and Wasim Jaffer were experienced enough to adapt quickly to the conditions despite a lack of match practice.

“Anil, Laxman and Jaffer are experienced players and they have experience in playing in these conditions, so that should not be a problem for them. They are as keen as others to go out and do well in the coming matches,” Robin said on the eve of the four-day tour opener against Sussex county club.

Robin stressed on the importance of doing well in the practice matches, saying that it would help give the team management a fair idea of the players’ form and confidence.

“The practice game, not only this one, but the next one at Chelmsford as well, is important from the team’s point of view. It gives us a chance to watch all the players before the Test matches,” said Robin after the team’s practice session at the Rosebowl. — PTI
