Lucknow: Minority educational institutions in U.P. on Saturday claimed that they were issued a directive by different State universities to induct students in professional courses as per allotment made by the varsities and not on their own, and demanded its withdrawal. Addressing a press conference here, representatives of several Muslim and Christian colleges alleged that the directive by the universities was “violative” of the Constitution and said it must be withdrawn forthwith. The Forum’s General Secretary A. K. Sahai also claimed that the Supreme Court had in a recent judgement clearly said the minority educational institutions imparting professional courses were free to admit students of their choice. – PTI
