Karthik, Gambhir bat well

HOVE: India was 281 for three at close on the first day of its tour match against Sussex here on Saturday.

Dinesh Karthik (76, 10x4) and Gautam Gambhir (81, 7x4) were involved in a second wicket stand of 129 after Wasim Jaffer fell cheaply for 12.

The scores: India 281 for three (D. Karthik 76, G. Gambhir 81, R. Dravid 57 batting, V.V.S. Laxman 37 batting) v Sussex.
