HYDERABAD: Khairatabad MLA P. Janardhan Reddy, his wife Sulochana, sister Lavanya and son P. Vishnuvardhan Reddy were arrested on Sunday evening and brought to Jubilee Hills police station following a heated argument with Y. S. Ravindranath Reddy, brother of Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy. The trouble started soon after the house-warming ceremony of Mr. Janardhan Reddy’s daughter located on Road No. 10, Jubilee Hills, on Sunday evening. It is learnt that the argument was sparked off with Y.S. Sumadhur Reddy, son of Mr. Ravindranath Reddy honking his car’s horn more than once because Mr. Janardhan Reddy’s car was blocking the narrow street. Mr. Ravindranth Reddy too stays in the same lane. Mr. Ravindranath Reddy alleged that both himself and his son were beaten up by Mr. Janardhan Reddy’s men and his son Vishnuvardhan Reddy. Following his complaint, police arrested the MLA, his wife, sister and his son and brought them to the Jubilee Hills station. Even as the MLA and others were being brought to the station, hordes of his supporters reached the spot and started shouting slogans against the Chief Minister slogans. Lathicharge
A dozen senior police officers also reached the place with enough policemen to disperse them. Mr. Janardhan Reddy appealed to his supporters to disperse but they stayed put. Police then lathicharged them injuring one of the them. His associate and Congress MLA, M. Sashidhar Reddy, visited him at the police station. Assault charge
Speaking to mediapersons outside the police station, Mr. Janardhan Reddy alleged that Mr. Ravindranath Reddy and his son beat up his son Vishnuvardhan Reddy and spoke in abusive language against other family members. On the other hand, Mr. Ravindranath Reddy said “Both me and my son received dozens of blows from the MLA’s son and his henchmen. I demand severe action against them.”
