Andhra Pradesh
With the opening of broad gauge line between Katpadi and Tirupati, Chittoor is now connected to all important cities of the country like Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad etc. But the citizens of Chittoor and its surrounding places find it very difficult to go to Chennai as there is no railway facility between the two places. I request the Railway authorities to introduce a new train between Chittoor and Chennai via Katpadi and Arkonam in Tamil Nadu. Hope the issue will be addressed at the earliest. B.N. Nageswara Rao, Chittoor Endless woes of ryots
The woes of Ananatapur district farmers are endless. With successive crop failure due to erratic rainfall and other calamities, the drought prone district’s ryots are full of hopes during this kharif season as they expect a good crop in view of the good rainfall. But it is sad that the recent incidents that took place while distributing seed to only some of them, due to insufficient stock, have led to agitations. In the melee, some ryots were also injured. A district bandh was also organised by some political parties in this connection. The remaining ryots are anxious that they may be deprived of the seed. Some of them are even ready to have alternative seed fearing that the humidity in the soil might dry up. Anticipating the quantity of requirement due to good rain, the Government should have taken speedy steps to supply seed to all farmers in the district. Hope the Government will continue its efforts on a war-footing in supplying seed. G. Jagannadh, Anantapur Plea for paved road
The woes of residents of the emerging ‘New Colony’ in Modinabad in Guntakal are many. The prime need of the colony, located near a mosque, is a paved road. As the monsoon intensifies, a chill is cast over the residents. It is virtually impossible to set foot on the present marshy road that serves a Government primary school and a few houses. Representations to the civic authorities plagued by partisan political affiliations fetch only apathy and callousness. We request the new Collectorto issue instructions to the concerned. N. Sadasivan Pillai, Guntakal ‘Don’t close post office’
Satyanarayanapet is an important segment of Guntakal, connecting the Railway colonies of V.V. Nagar, Prabhat Nagar and the northern parts of the town along with Kesapuram, an important pilgrim centre in Anantapur district. The present sub-post office in the heart of Satyanarayanapet caters to the needs of thousands of people. All people will be put to a lot of hardship and inconvenience if the head post office is shifted, which is nearly 2 km away. Hence, I request the authorities to give up the idea of closing it, if there is any such proposal. R. Dwarakanatha Rao, Guntakal
