TIRUCHI: The Tiruchi Fort Police have registered a case against the former Union Minister and founder of the Bharatiya Jana Sakthi, Uma Bharti, for her reported remarks “objectionable as per law” she made while speaking at the demonstration organised by her party here on Saturday demanding protection of the Ram Sethu. Police sources said a case under Section 153 A (promoting enmity between groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth, residence, language etc. and doing acts prejudicial to maintenance of harmony) and Section 506 (II) (if threat be to cause death or grievous hurt etc.) has been registered against her. The Sub-Inspector of Police (Law and Order), Fort Police station J. Manimaran is the complainant. The sources said the entire demonstration had been video recorded and the case was booked late on Saturday night after obtaining legal opinion. The Fort Police would now commence further investigation. Ramanathapuram Staff Reporter reports: The Rameswaram town police on Saturday also registered a case against Ms. Bharti under Section 153 A and 506 (II) for her speech on the Ram Sethu issue at a public meeting in Rameswaram on Friday.
