Arun to coach Bengal

KOLKATA: Former India and Tamil Nadu medium pace bowler, Bharath Arun, has been named the Bengal Ranji Trophy team coach for the forthcoming season. Arun will take charge on September 1 after he finishes his contractual obligations with the National Cricket Academy, Bangalore.

The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) president, Prasun Mukherjee, said, “he is a very experienced coach with deep knowledge of the game.” He hoped Arun would continue the good work.

Bengal finished runner-up last two seasons under Paras Mhambrey who joined Baroda.

Arun, whose contract with the CAB is for one year, brings with him the experience of coaching Tamil Nadu for four years with splendid results. “It is a great pleasure to come and be the coach of Bengal. It is one of the best sides in the country right now,” he said. “Cricket at this level is all about self-belief,” he said. — Special Correspondent
