Five killed in road accidents

KADAPA: Three people belong to Jammalamadugu - S. Mahabub Hussain (27), B. Nagamalleswar Prasad (27), and S. Khaja Mohiuddin (25) – were killed when the Maruti van in which they were travelling collided with an APSRTC bus.

The accident took place when van was trying to overtake a lorry, near Potladurthy village in Yerraguntla mandal, on Saturday evening.

They were going to Lanco factory in Srikalahasti in Chittoor district, according to the police.

While Hussain and Prasad died on the spot, Mohiuddin died on way to Kurnool General Hospital.

Yerraguntla police registered a case.

In another mishap, a tractor fatally knocked down a motorcycle mechanic Fakruddin, and his friend Babaiah, who were taking a walk near Nallapureddipalle village in Pulivendula mandal.

The driver fled from the scene, abandoning the vehicle at the accident spot.

Pulivendula Sub Inspector Ananda Rao registered a case.
