BJP meeting on separate Andhra on July 13

Correspondent

VIZIANAGARAM: The Bharatiya Janata Party is holding a ‘separate Andhra’ meet at Masonic Temple here on July 13 to educate people on the need for bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh.

At a press conference here on Sunday, the Dalit Morcha State president Paka Raja Rao expressed concern over the injustice meted out to people in Andhra region in education, irrigation projects, infrastructure development etc. Detailing statistics, Dr. Raja Rao said that the people in Andhra were facing discrimination in education, facilities in jobs and other infrastructure developmental activities. He said not even 50 per cent of seats were there in engineering and medical colleges in Andhra. Among the 26 irrigation projects planned under ‘Jalayagnam’ only two -- Jhanjhavathi and Thotapalli -- were being executed.

In spite of investments made for the development of Telengana by entrepreneurs from Andhra, they were being humiliated in every aspect. “Why should we tolerate humiliation,” Dr. Raja Rao asked.

He said the Telengana issue was being raised now and then by some leaders only to meet their political ends. He said the meeting was aimed at creating awareness among people in Andhra region and to assert rights before bifurcation of the State. Party district president K.V.N.R. Prasad and others were present.

Blood donation

Former Chief Justice of Andhra Pradesh Devinder Gupta inaugurated a blood donation camp and Patanjali Yoga Kendra, distributed rice and sarees and scholarships to students at Masonic Temple here on Sunday. Lodge Nicopolis No.18, Vizianagaram, organised the charitable programmes on the occasion of his visit to the Masonic Temple here.
