Murugeswari and Kishore excel

Dindigul: S. Murugeswari of Madurai won two gold (women’s 50m open sight rifle prone and junior women’s 50m open sight rifle prone) and S. Kishore Kumar also of Madurai won a gold (junior men’s 50m open sight rifle prone) and a silver (men’s 50m open sight rifle prone) in the seventh Tamil Nadu State inter-district shooting competitions organised by the Dindigul Rifle Club at Akshya Shooting Range here on Saturday.

The results:

Men:

50m rifle prone: 1. Venkatachalapathy (Coimbatore) 572, 2. R.V. Rajarajan (Chennai) 566, 3. R. Sakthi Sivaraj (Che) 559; 50m open sight rifle prone: 1. N. Suresh Kumar (Mdu) 500, 2. S. Kishore Kumar (Mdu) 453, 3. M. Tamil Selvan (Police) 436.

Junior men:

50m rifle prone: 1. Suraj Sundara Shankar (Mdu) 541, 2. Kaveri Thilagesh (Cbe) 520, 3. Master Abdul Basheer Khan (Che) 500; 50m open sight rifle prone: 1. S. Kishore Kumar 453, 2. Manikanda Bharathwaj (Mdu) 430, 3. N aveen Kumar (Cbe) 409.

Women:

50m rifle prone: 1. V. Mathangi (Che) 570, 2. S. Mythili (Mdu) 563, 3. Dr. Mahalakshmi (Che) 552; 50m open sight rifle prone: 1. S. Murugeswari (Mdu) 569, 2. R. Sreeja (Tiruchi) 282.

Junior women:

50m rifle prone: 1. S. Shruthi (Mdu) 540; 50m open sight rifle prone: 1. S. Murugeswari 509, 2. R. Sreeja 282.

Anbarasan scalps five

Medium-pacer Anbarasan’s five for 19 helped Victory Cricket Club carve out a seven-wicket victory over Spark Colts Cricket Club in the MDCA first division ‘B’ zone league at Madurai on Sunday.

The scores (First division ‘B’ zone):

Spark Colts CC 89 in 23.4 overs (Anbarasan five for 19) lost to Victory CC 90 for three in 16.4 overs (Karthick 44); Richards CC 162 in 38.2 overs lost to Pykara Star CC 165 for seven in 27.5 overs (Prabu 52, Ram Titto four for 20).

Second division:

Oliva CC 112 in 26.1 overs lost to Crescent CC 113 for six in 20.3 overs; Thirunagar Rainbow CC 222 for seven in 30 overs (Hari Prasad 68, Balaji 40 n.o.) bt Canara Bank RC 42 in 12.2 overs.
