Hemavathi dam gates opened

HASSAN: At 12.30 p.m. on Monday, water was released from the Hemavathi Reservoir, which had water up to a level of 2919.19 ft (34.07 tmcft) against its full level of 2922 ft (37.103 tmcft).

The five crest gates of the dam, which received an inflow of 25,000 cusecs, were opened and 15,000 cusecs of water let out. Of this, 9,000 cusecs of water was released through the canals.

According to the reservoir’s Superintending Engineer, of the 9,000 cusecs of water, 2,000 cusecs of water was let into the left bank canal, while 200 cusecs of water was released into the right bank canal. The right bank high-level canal received 300 cusecs of water, while 6,500 cusecs of water was released into the river course.

People from Hassan as well from Arkalgud and other places visited the dam site.
