Cyclist killed in accident

MANGALORE: A teenager was killed on the spot when a bus dashed against the bicycle he was riding at Kaikamba in Badagulipadi village of Mangalore taluk on Sunday. The deceased has been identified as Purushothama (18). A case has been registered at Bajpe police station.

Durgamma (87), resident of Parari House in Koila village of Bantwal taluk, accidentally came in contact with a live electric wire while working near her house on Monday and died. Bantwal police have registered a case.

Poovappa Poojary (63) was reportedly drowned in Nethravathi river while taking bath at Kannur in Mangalore Taluk. Ullal police have registered a case. Kusappa Gowda (62), resident of Kuntagalu of Ivarnadu village in Sullia taluk accidentally slipped into a pond while walking near his house and was drowned. Sullia police have registered a case.

The Kavoor policemen have arrested two persons on charges of inducing people for immoral trade at a public place near Vidyanagar in Panjimogaru village of Mangalore taluk.The accused have been identified as Shobha (18) and Pradeep Wilson D’Souza (24). Kavoor police are investigating.

Ullal police personnel on a credible information raided a public place at Kondana Nadukumeru in Kotekar village of Mangalore taluk on Sunday and seized 11 cocks, 2 knives and Rs. 2,001 cash. Mohana (35), Divakara (24), Sanjeeva Poojary (50), Sundara (40) and Dinesha Kondana (39) have arrested for allegedly indulging in betting on cock-fighting. A case has been registered at Ullal police station.
