Kozhikode Mayor M. Bhaskaran is following in the former Chief Minister E.K. Nayanar’s footsteps. The late Nayanar reviewed his Government policies in the popular weekly programme, ‘Mukhya Mantriyodu Chothikyuka’ (Ask the Chief Minister), telecast on Asianet channel a few years ago. Now, Mr. Bhaskaran is lending an ear to complaints and grievances in a programme ‘Mayorodu Chothikyuka’ (Ask the Mayor) telecast on Asianet Cable Vision (ACV). The first episode went on air at 8.30 p.m. on Monday. Residents called the Mayor between 8 p.m. and 9 p.m. on Friday on the telephone number 3253441. The recoded version was shown later, says T.K. Sreemanoj of Multitech who has produced the programme for the cable network. Thirteen calls were received during the programme. Many of the callers spoke about issues such as the dilapidated condition of roads and waterlogging. One person complained about private buses parking on zebra crossings and another wanted the Mayor to ban smoking inside cinema halls. Sreemanoj says the programme will soon be telecast live. “We are planning to do a similar show featuring the City Police Commissioner,” he adds. Biju Govind
