‘Factory not paying promised price’

Bidar: Farmers from Chitaguppa town have complained that the Bidar Sahakari Sakkare Karakhane was paying Rs. 600 a tonne of sugarcane instead of Rs. 800 a tonne as agreed earlier. Farmers, who supplied sugarcane after February had not been paid yet. Most of them had borrowed to cultivate and were now facing a problem repaying the loans.

Also, the factory was paying less than the promised amount. The factory should pay Rs. 800 a tonne immediately, Janata Dal (S) leader Basavaraj Bannalli, Bheemreddy Anadur, Anil Joshi, Veeranna Jatla and others have said in a memorandum to the Government. — Special Correspondent
