Civic bypolls on August 9

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The State Election Commission has issued notification for byelection in 10 wards in seven districts on August 9.

In Thiruvananthapuram byelections will be held in Mullasseri ward in Kulathur panchayat, Uriyacode in Vellanad and Vamanapuram ward in Vamanapuram panchayat. Byelections will be held in Market ward in Anchal and PHC division in Poothakkulam in Kollam. Mullankuzhi division in Kangazha (Kottayam), Industrial Park division in Muvattupuzha municipality (Ernakulam), Maruthonkara North in Maruthonkara (Kozhikode), Nellipara in Aalacode (Kannur) and Poovalappu in Thrikarippur (Kasargod) are the other wards where elections have been slated on August 9. The last date for filing nomination papers in July 17. The scrutiny is on July 18. The last date for withdrawing nominations is July 20.
