GULBARGA: The Hyderabad-Karnataka Janapara Sangharsha Samiti will organise a dharna in front of the administrative office of the Gulbarga City Corporation on Thursday demanding, among other things, basic amenities such as underground drainage system, supply of clean drinking water and repair of city roads. Samiti president Lakshman Dasti told presspersons here on Tuesday that despite several agitations the corporation had done little to solve the problems faced by the people. The samiti would stage a dharna in front of the administrative office of the corporation to highlight the problems. He said although drinking water supply had improved because of the increased pumping of water from the Bhima in the new pipeline laid between Saradgi Barrage and the New Filter-bed, the inept handling by the officials forced the people to make do with impure water. Water, which was being pumped to the filter-bed was not filtered. As a result, raw water was being pumped directly to households, he said.
