Kolkata: The former French Prime Minister, Michael Rocard, was on Tuesday discharged from a city hospital. He underwent surgery for subdural haematoma and was to have been discharged on July 7. He was admitted to the hospital on June 30. Minor knee pain
A minor pain in the knee last week had delayed the discharge of the 76-year-old former Socialist Prime Minister . French Ambassador Dominique Girard, who was present at the hospital, told The Hindu that the treatment and successful operation the former Prime Minister had undergone would be noticed in France. It would add to the image of India f or the quality of medical services available. “I am absolutely convinced that this wonderful story which has happened to our former Prime Minister will be of a huge service to the future of the relationship between the two countries” Mr. Girard said. Mr. Rocard had suddenly fallen ill on the day he was scheduled to address an event organised by the West Bengal Federation of the United Nations’ Association. He was immediately taken to the hospital for a check-up after which it was decided that he would have to undergo surgery.
