MUMBAI: Kids Media India and the Hong Kong-based Animation International, licensor of children’s animation character ‘Doraemon’, on Tuesday announced the licensing and merchandising of the cartoon character in India. Kids Media India, a subsidiary of the Dubai-based SpaceToon Media, is in talks with various parties for merchandising and licensing of Doraemon, a Japanese cartoon character, the company CEO Rajiv Sangari told reporters here. Two thousand Doraemon products were sold in Asia and the company planned to launch goods from apparel to footwear of Doraemon, he said. Targets 370m children
By launching Doraemon products, Kids Media is targeting the 370 million children in the country, Mr. Sangari said. “Initially, we would launch the products in eight cities. We are targeting a turnover of $3 million in three years,” he said. There was a “minimum guarantee and revenue sharing” between Kids Media and Animation International, Mr. Sangari said. The company planned to launch a children’s channel by the end of the year, he said. — PTI
