THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: After a two-hour delay, the online facility to register course/college options for engineering and medical courses in the State for the year 2007 became functional at noon on Tuesday. By 7 p.m. about 4,000 students had submitted 1,22,500 options on the web site cee.kerala.gov.in. Though officials of the Department of Education attributed the delay in the activation of the online facility to a technical snag, sources said it was a delay in the issue of a Government Order from the department that led to the delay. The Government has opened 31 Information Guidance and Option Facilitation Centres across the State to assist those who do not have access to Internet at home. Further, 39 Help Desks have also been set up. These centres will start functioning on July 11. The list of these centres is available on the web site cee-kerala.org. The schedule for submitting options and the subsequent allotment of seats are also available on this web site. Education Minister M.A. Baby said the fee regulatory committee would meet shortly to take a decision on the fee-seat pacts signed by managements of various self-financing professional colleges and the Government.
