Donation of a different kind
Staff Reporter
Bangalore: When people donate something to schools, it is usually money, books, furniture or playground equipment. But the Atmaram School and the Government Primary School in Narsipura village, Nelamangala, which has a total strength of 550 students got gas stoves, vessels for cooking, storing and serving food.
The schools benefited from government grants for the mid-day meal scheme but they did not have the amenities, which Paruchuri Surendra Kumar, founder, Paruchuri Foundation, provided.
At the function, he recalled how he had to walk four k.m. each day to school and how difficult it was for children of his village to pursue their education. This was one of the reasons why he wanted to help children from deprived backgrounds.
He also promised to sponsor the B.E. course in KNS Institute of Technology for a bright village resident, Dakshayani.
