‘Offering of colours to the divine’
Staff Reporter
Bangalore: Here is an art gallery that strives to be different. Calling itself Varnayaaga, which translates as “an offering of colours to the divine”, it is tucked away in C.V. Raman Nagar.
Vasantha Vaikunth, dancer and owner of the art gallery, seeks to give a platform to Indian culture through this venture. The gallery has paintings and sculptures by artists from Bangalore, Hassan, Mangalore, Belgaum and other parts of Karnataka as well as those sourced from artists from Delhi, Mumbai, Rajasthan and Kolkata. Ms.Vaikunth, who thinks sculpting has largely been neglected, wishes to give it the pride of place in her gallery. The gallery also boasts sculptures by Venkatachalapathy, president of the Shilpa Kala Academy. Visitors can experience the process of painting, for themselves with help from the in-house artist, Vijay Nagvekar.
Varnayaaga is located at 203/3 1st Main, 6th Cross, Varsova Layout, C.V. Raman Nagar, Ph: 25247374.
