COIMBATORE: “We will not be healthy if we do not take care of our Earth. Even if there are a number of drugs, true healing will not be possible. True healing is Earth healing”, Todd Pesek, Director, Centre for Healing Across Cultures and Assistant Professor, Health Sciences, Cleveland State University, the U.S., said here on Monday. Symposium
Speaking at an international symposium titled ‘Healing Across Cultures’ at the Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham University, he said: “We live in a changed world – an advanced age with technological innovations. However, we must be cautious not to rely heavily on this. It is time we listened to our tradition.” The answers people sought for sustainability of human health lay in the hands of the healers. Their needs should be met, he said. “A true healer is an Earth healer.” He asserted that there was true medicinal healing in plants. He was keen on passing on the knowledge about the richness of traditional healing to the younger generation. It was necessary to make them understand that one-fourth of the modern medicine stemmed from traditional medicine, he said. Quoting the Kashmiri thought, “We have not inherited our land from our forefathers; we borrow it from our children”, he said that Earth should respected. Spirituality
One should learn from the spirituality and wisdom that existed in Nature, he said. Traditional healers, integrative medical practitioners and researchers from India and abroad attend the symposium.
