Boy pours kerosene on her during lunch Apsara always preferred to be quiet
ANANTAPUR: A fifth standard girl, Apsara (11), suffered serious burns threatening her life after she was allegedly torched by a boy after pouring kerosene on her during lunch hours in a private school at Penukonda in the district on Tuesday. She was immediately rushed to the Government hospital there and after first aid she was shifted to a private hospital here. After initial treatment the doctors at the private hospital referred her to Bangalore with about 70 per cent burns. Moody girl
According to the girl’s parents, her classmates and her younger sister, Apsara, was a moody girl and would always prefer to be quiet. She went to the toilet during lunch hour in the school on Tuesday before taking food. The school staff and other students came to know about the incident only after they heard the screams of the girl from the toilet. A neighbouring boy, Rajasekhar, who rushed to the school premises after hearing the screams put off the flames when nobody dared to reach the girl. The girl told doctors in the hospital that a boy had poured kerosene on the lower part of her body and torched her. The girl is a native of Guttur village in Penukonda mandal and used to attend the school along with her younger sister Anjana (9), studying in fourth standard. The girl’s classmate Nagamani and Anjana stated that Apsara had told them that she would have her lunch later when asked to accompany them.
